Our Historic Address
Buffalo’s Rowhouse Bakery & Restaurant is located in three beautiful Delaware Avenue brownstones, each built in 1890, in an area once known as the Midway Plaisance. “Midway” reflects the building’s location between Niagara Square and Forest Lawn Cemetery, and “Plaisance” refers to the “pleasantness” of their once park-like setting.
In the 1930s, Frederick Pike – an Interior Architect and Designer who owned and worked in the building – created the striking glass front windows on Delaware Avenue. The two cast-iron figures above the window, a craftsman and an artist, served as the inspiration for Rowhouse’s logo, which features a butcher and baker.
While retaining its important colonial-revival and Queen Anne architectural features, the space has been restored and modernized to create a welcoming and relaxing neighborhood hub in Buffalo, New York.
