Our Historic Address

Rowhouse Bakery & Restaurant is located in three beautiful Delaware Avenue brownstones, each built in 1890, in an area once known as the Midway Plaisance. “Midway” reflects the building’s location between Niagara Square and Forest Lawn Cemetery, and “Plaisance” refers to the “pleasantness” of their once park-like setting.

In the 1930s, Frederick Pike – an Interior Architect and Designer who owned and worked in the building – created the striking glass front windows on Delaware Avenue. The two cast-iron figures above the window, a craftsman and an artist, served as the inspiration for Rowhouse’s logo, which features a butcher and baker.

While retaining its important colonial-revival and Queen Anne architectural features, the space has been restored and modernized to create a welcoming and relaxing neighborhood hub.

THE BAKERY

Artisanal Breads & Pasteries

Rowhouse Bakery uses hand-shaping processes, wood-fired ovens and specialized stone hearth decks. Our Head Baker Walter Grohs trained our staff to use fermented and sprouted grains and flour with a long slow rise. Our sweet and savory pastries and croissants are made daily using farm fresh local eggs, fruits and cheeses.

Take a peek at the master bakers at work from The Perch and savor an array of Bakery offerings included in all Rowhouse menus.

Casual & Refined Fare

Rowhouse pays homage to the dining establishments of our past in a beautiful, yet unpretentious, setting. Our talented Head Chef Nick Schabert’s in-house dining menu is seasonally based with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients that are prepared in our wood-fire brick oven and Argentinian wood fired grill. Herbs and vegetables come from our own in-house vertical growing racks as well as local farms and our own farm located in East Aurora, New York.
